First Wives Club Revisited: A Peek Into Olivia Goldsmith’s Literary Retreat

After divorcing her husband and writing The First Wives Club, author Olivia Goldsmith traded Manhattan for the village of Chester Vermont. Explore this retreat of the best selling author who hilariously tapped into the greed of the 1980's and the superficiality that it spawned.

This charming home reflects the cosmetic flair of the author while preserving the historic character. The primary bathroom dubbed by the current owners as the "Princess Bath" with restored gold-plated fixtures, is soak-worthy and luxurious with a healthy dash of quaint New England. I can just picture Olivia unwinding here, plotting her next novel while surrounded by bubbles and candlelight.

Just off the primary suite there is a commemorative bookshelf of Goldsmith's novels to be read by your choice of four fireplaces.

If by now you are feeling nostalgic, grab a bowl of popcorn, stream The First Wives Club, and let Diane, Goldie, and Bette whisk you back to the 1980's via this zany concoction of revenge and empowerment.

Spoiler alert: Don't miss Olivia Goldsmith's cameo in the funeral service scene at the church. She appears as an onlooker sitting in a pew when Bette Midler takes notice of Goldie Hawn.
